While this season is all about nature, I think I would like to take a trip with you all out a little further into the universe. Let’s talk about a NASA party I recently had for one of my friends and fellow bloggers, Nisha. The inspiration came via Life Frosting’s Astronaut in Training party that she threw for her son. In general I’m a fan of taking kid themed parties and utilizing them for a group of adults. That’s why I thought Solar System cupcakes would be fun.

This is certainly not to scale, but there you have it, the Sun all the way to Pluto (yep, I decided Pluto was a planet for this birthday celebration) with lots of little stars and comets mixed in. This turned out to be one of the easiest desserts to make. With a nice set of food coloring it was easy to create to a colorful and playful Solar System. I essentially worked with the frosting the same way I would have mixed water color.  Silver tissue paper from the dollar store worked nicely as a tablecloth and background.

This was the BEST BIRTHDAY PARTY EVER!!!! Thank you for making it so awesome. The pictures don’t do the whole party justice either – there were decorations around the room, a mural and so much yummy food! You are amazing Jess!
