Happy Halloween!

Since this season is about getting in touch with our inner fashionista, I thought I would go all out and share a  Halloween inspired outfit. Let’s just say I found this photo shoot to be quite uncomfortable. It is difficult to stand in front of a camera and say yes I want my picture taken and then I plan on putting it on the Internet for all to see. But that’s one of my favorite things about Sweet Athena, it pushes me to do new things.

Is it totally cheesy to wear a black and orange professional outfit to work on Halloween? Yes. Do I think my friend may be right when she said, with age, I am dressing more and more like Ms. Frizzle. Yep. Do I care? Nope.

I’ve started exploring vintage shops around the Baltimore area and was tickled pink to find this orange number last weekend. A little trick I have discovered for people who enjoy wearing vintage dresses in their everyday life, there always seems to be lots of great choices at fair prices around this time of year.

A couple of fun details about this outfit. My shirt is actually a dress. It’s always great to discover how to wear one piece styled multiple ways. If your dress does not have too long or full of a skirt you can usually find a fun skirt to put over it.

What do you think of my shoes paired with the top? I’m in love with these shoes I bought for work. You would think the pattern would mean I would be limited to wearing them with only plain black or white outfits, but I find they have created an easy way to try pattern mixing. What are your thoughts- too much or playful?

My hairpiece was something I made years ago in the very first few months of starting the blog. To make it I hot glued a strip of ribbon to the top of an alligator clip and then hot glued two fake orange flowers to it. It was simple to make and is bit over the top. But I find my self drawn to it every now and again.

I hope your Halloween is filled with more treats than tricks!
