One of the fun things about doing this blog with Linz is that we do not often coordinate our individual posts and they are a surprise even to each other. I am just as excited as the next person to see what Linz is going to be talking about for Foodie Friday. I quite enjoyed when we coincidently posted two Foodie Fridays in a row about our love (mine!) vs. hate (Linz) for pie crust. Anyone who regularly reads the blog knows our love for soup can get a tad out of control in the winter. It seems we are once again on the same page and Spring has awaken us to a focus on healthy eating. I have been making many of my meals and snacks from Bon Appetit’s 2012 Food Lover’s Cleanse. It is a two week challenge to eat tasty, healthy meals. But here’s the thing I really love about it, you can just pick and choose the meals you want to cook. I’m not doing the cleanse in its entirety (this is not a diet folks), it is just a nice tool to get me back on track to eating more of those veggies and whole grains I know are so good for me. Plus, I’m always looking for better snacking ideas (string cheese, we have been friends for too long). Above I tried day 7 dinner of braised greens with leeks and orange-scented bulgar. This bulgar dish would also make a great alternative to oatmeal for breakfast. What healthy dishes for Spring have you discovered?

Friends since middle school, we continue to inspire each other to be creative in our big, adult lives. Each season we take on a new theme to guide our crafting, cooking, and creating. We're up for trying anything, and things are bound to get messy. But that's just the way we like it.
