Foodie Friday: Crispy Seltzer Waffles

One of my all time favorite kitchen supplies of the moment is my Soda Stream. This beauty creates sparkling water whenever my heart desires. For some I could see how this would seem like a silly contraption to have in their kitchen, for others I’m sure you see the convenience. Then there are the extremist like me, who not only love the carbonated goodness of the water, but try and think of ways to incorporate sparkling water into not only drink recipes, but food recipes as well.

Which is how I ended up trying Crispy Seltzer Waffles by The Wicked Whisk. These waffles are easy to make and not just about the novelty of adding seltzer water, I think the carbonation really does add a nice crispness to the outside of the waffle.

Crispy Seltzer Waffles

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbls sugar
2 tsp baking powder
4 tbls unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups seltzer or club soda

Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Add butter, eggs and carbonated water and whisk until smooth. Cook waffles according to your manufacturer’s instructions.

The Vegan Feast Kitchen also does what looks like tasty version of these waffles for vegans.

These look amazing Jess! And the SodaStream machine is flipping genius. I don’t have one but my good friends do, it’s definitely my next appliance purchase.

Yum! No soda stream, but I had Pumpkin Pie soda that was not tasty to drink but awesome in these waffles. Super easy to make and super fluffy inside and perfect crisp on outside. Thank you!
