Have we talked about Portlandia yet? Since moving to Baltimore I get asked a lot about that show. Have I seen? Is it realistic? And oh boy, am I excited to tell people it is in fact. Sure it’s an exaggeration. But they kind of got it right. I never did think twice about the fact that the farmers market I go to has a photo album of their chickens that they sell the eggs from. Or that an old co-worker asked me to call their child zer, instead of him or her. My friend moved miles across town with using only bikes. Umm, yea, that’s right she is so awesome she moved with friends a mattress, boxes, tables and chairs all via bikes. These things just happen in Portland.

What does this have to with cookies? I was watching the clip about brunch in Portland with my roommate and Marionberry Pancakes came up. My roommate thought it was made up. Whaaaaat? Surely he had Marionberries. I was shocked to learn this was not a thing on the East Coast. I, of course, texted my Mother immediately to mail me a jar of this tasty goodness in jam form. Then there was talk about me making Marionberry pancakes, but I never did wake up earlier enough for that business. Then I remembered Jam Cookies. Perfect.

Just like Summer No Bakes, they are a cookie of my childhood. My Grandmother would whip them up all the time using a variety of different jams. I had forgotten how easy these cookies are and what a crowd pleaser they are too. Seriously, they only lasted two days. That might have something to do with the fact that they use three sticks of butter.

I love your stories about Portland! It’s completely true! I’m in love with the weirdness of this city and all the “characters” you see! These cookies look scrumptious! I can’t wait to try them!
