Foodie Friday: Blueberry Dessert Pizza

This weekend Linz and I are going to be hanging out at one of our favorite places, our friend Jessica’s family blueberry farm. It therefore felt fitting that we should feature a blueberry recipe today. Going for the unconventional, we decide to make this Blueberry Dessert Pizza from Spoon Fork Bacon.

It seems a bit funky a first, blueberries, cream cheese, pizza dough and cheese all in one bite? But then you think about it a bit more and you realize it is juicy blueberries bursting onto bubbly cheese. It tastes a lot like a toasty blueberry bagel, but better. Next time I think I will try adding a few strawberries to the top too.

When it comes down to it, this dessert is really not that bad for you either. Think about all the sugar and butter that is so many of the dessert we love to bake and eat, this one looks pretty good on the health scale comparatively. The other bonus about this dessert is that it is the perfect after dinner treat to get kids involved in making, it’s so quick and easy. Let us know if you try it and what you think.

I’d give anything for fresh blueberries right now. That dessert pizza looks so good. I wonder if a cranberry cheese combo would be good. I have dried cranberries!
